Athlone coffee shop aiming to open more branches elsewhere

Athlone's Garrison Coffee Co is celebrating six months in business at its Church Street location, having opened last August, and has signalled its ambition to open in other locations in the future.

The locally-owned business is a partnership between MK Hospitality, which operates The Venue and is headed by Athlone local Jamie King, and local businessman Keith Tuohy, who is also part of the team behind FT Security Solutions, based in Summerhill Business Park.

The premises at 37 Church Street is the first Garrison Coffee Co site, and, as it reached the six-month milestone, the business said there were plans for further locations to be added in other parts of the country in future.

The business sells specialty coffee from Cloud Picker in Dublin, Açai & Superfruit Sorbet Bowls, and sweet treats sourced from Alchemy Productions in Cork.

"We are delighted to have reached six months in business during what is a challenging time for the hospitality industry," said Jamie King, Managing Director at MK Hospitality, which manages the site.

"This milestone is down to the incredible support from our customers and the local community," he added.

"We set out with our partner Keith to create a space where people could enjoy exceptional coffee, innovative bowls and treats, and a welcoming atmosphere. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey so far."

Garrison Coffee Co is open seven days a week, with both sit-in and takeaway options available.
