Several bands confirmed for Tullamore St Patrick's Day parade

A number of bands from across the Midlands have been confirmed for the Tullamore St Patrick's Day parade next month.

Mullingar Town Band, Athlone Pipe Band and Clara Town Band have already confirmed their participation, and the organising committee said it's hopeful that the Athlone-based Army Band will also be taking part.

The parade takes place on Monday, March 17, starting at 11.30am from the car park of the Bridge Centre.

Entertainment at the review stand on Colmcille Street will begin at 10.30am, where the Tullamore Comhaltas will perform in the lead up to the official cutting of the ribbon.

Members of the public are being encouraged to come early to enjoy this entertainment, and there will be a seated area opposite the parade review stand for elderly and wheelchair users.

Letters of invitation have been sent to many organisations and the committee is encouraging all groups to make their preparations early.

Any group or organisation that wishes to take part in the parade can contact any member of the committee listed below or email: seanobrientullamore@gmail.com

Letters have also been sent to local businesses seeking financial support. We are very grateful to all businesses who generously support the parade every year and without their support the parade could not run.

The parade brings huge crowds to the town on the day and, and this in turn leads to increased support for many businesses locally.

The parade theme this year is 'Celebrating Culture And Heritage' and the organisers look forward to the many groups in the parade including this theme in their entry.
