Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union announces Community Support Fund recipients

Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union has announced the Athlone recipients of its community support fund 2025 at a special presentation ceremony in The Bounty, Athlone, on Wednesday last.

Some 41 community groups from the Athlone area have been awarded funding totalling just over €45,000 to support various projects within the local community.

The primary objective of the Community Support Fund is to foster the development and implementation of impactful projects that benefit members and the broader community in the Athlone and Castlerea common bond area.

The community groups who have received funding include Monksland Active Retirement Assoc, Athlone(Midlands) Rape Crisis Centre, Ballinahown Community Development, Southern Gaels Hurling and Camoige Club, St Hildas Special Needs School, Athlone GAA Monksfield Park Residents Assoc., Athlone River Safety Awareness, Moates Mens Shed, Athlone Little Theatre, Athlone Emergency Difibrilator Group, Monksland United FC, Ballinahown FC, Athlone Squash Club, Maryland GAA, Knights of St Columbanus, Athlone Gymnastics Club, Athlone No.1 Gun Battery Heritage Group, Drumraney Heritage Society, Moate All Whites GAA, Trout Anglers Federation Ireland (T.A.F.I), Clonown Community Group, Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Éireann, Clonown Community Centre, Athlone Photgraphy Club Old Athlone Society, Doon GAA, Féile na Sionainne, Athlone Golf Club, Athlone Christmas Market Committee, Athlone Community Radio, Athlone Croi na hEireann, Athlone Drug Awareness, Goldsmiths LGFA, Mount Temple Holy Trinity Graveyard Group, St Joseph's FC Caulry GAA, Kiltoom Drama Group, Buccaneers RFC, Clann na nGael GAA Club, Athlone Agricultural Show

Speaking at the presentation, Marise O’Toole, Deputy CEO of Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union said: “We were delighted to support community and volunteer led groups in the Athlone area and we know that the funding will come as a welcome support.
