O'Carroll's spot-kick seals Sigerson Cup final berth for UCD
St Brigid's talisman Ben O'Carroll was the sudden death penalty shoot-out hero as he ensured UCD progressed to the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup final and a meeting with DCU Dóchas Éireann on Wednesday night.
Following the conclusion of an epic semi-final encounter, O'Carroll netted the final sudden death spot-kick, a place in the much vaunted third level GAA competition secured.
O'Carroll is joined on the UCD panel by fellow Roscommon senior footballer Daire Cregg, while Westmeath intercounty defender Charlie Drumm is also a core member of the team.
In the final UCD will play DCU Dóchas Éireann who boasted three players from Roscommon in their semi-final victory over Ulster University, Jack Tumulty, Luke Glennon and Eoin Ward.
TUS Midlands almost eliminated DCU Dóchas Éireann at the quarter final stage of this year's competition, their valiant effort coming up just short in what was a high scoring fixture.
