Roscommon LGFA names adult and U16 panels for 2025

Roscommon ladies football manager Finbar Egan has named his panel for this year's Lidl National Football League Division 2 campaign.

There are five players from senior champions Clann na nGael on the panel - Caoimhe Lennon, Ciara Quinn, Megan Kelly, Orla O’Neill and Róise Lennon.

2024 defeated finalists St Brigid's have four representatives included, namely Abby Curran, Caoimhe O’Reilly, Marian Nolan and Ria Lennon. St Dominic’s have three players on the panel (Áine O’Meara, Aimee O’Connor and Niamh Watson), while Pádraig Pearses are represented by Caitlin Malone and Gráinne Lohan.

Boxing star Lisa O’Rourke is on the panel of 32 players and, in total, 16 clubs are represented with Rachel Brady currently playing for Thomas Davis of Dublin (see full panel below).

But Roscommon will be without the services of Jenny Higgins, after the Clann na nGael player suffered a dreaded cruciate ligament injury for a second time.

Having returned from Australia, where she was with the Sydney Swans Australian Rules squad, Higgins was expected to plan a key role for the Rossies this year. Her injury-enforced absence is a considerable blow for both the player herself and the team.

Kate Nolan of St Brigid's is another talented player who is sidelined because of a cruciate injury at present.

Roscommon team manager Egan, who has previously enjoyed considerable success in ladies football, is joined in the management team by Gary Wynne (Boyle), Marie Kelly (Clann na nGael) and Niall Scally (St Loman's).

Roscommon get their season underway on Sunday, January 26 when they take on Monaghan in the first round of the Lidl NFL in Johnstown.

The Roscommon ladies are taking part in a 'Solo Marathon' fundraiser on Sunday, February 16 to raise funds for their 2025 campaign. People can contribute via the following link - https://www.gofundme.com/f/j5q4g8-roscommon-lgfa
