Funeral details announced for Athlone resident Mirjana Pap

The funeral service of Athlone resident Mirjana Pap will take place in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Coosan this Saturday, January 11.

Ms Pap (58), who was originally from Croatia, was a long-time Athlone resident who lived in the Beechville residential area in the town.

She was the subject of a missing person appeal on December 28, and her body was subsequently found on bogland at Curraghaleen, in South Roscommon, on December 30.

A son of the deceased, Nebojsa Pap (31), of Beechville, Athlone, is currently in custody, having been charged with her murder.

A death notice for Mirjana Pap states that she was predeceased by her dear father, Dragan, and her beloved husband, Vlado.

It adds: "Her memory lives on in her cherished children, Bojan and Lora, and her beloved grandson, who were the center of her world.

"She will be fondly remembered by her brother, Petar, her nephew and nieces, as well as by friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

"Mirjana's warmth, kindness, and love will never be forgotten."

Her funeral service in Coosan will take place at 12 noon on Saturday, with burial afterwards in Coosan cemetery.

Mirjana's family said they "would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped them over the last while as the come to terms with they loss of their mother, grandmother, sister and friend," adding: "A special word of thank you to everyone for all their love and support."
