Kilbeggan and Tang appoint new football managers

Nigel Adamson has been appointed as the new manager of the Kilbeggan Shamrocks intermediate football team for 2025. The Moate man's appointment was confirmed at the club's AGM last Sunday evening.

A Leinster MFC medal winner with Westmeath in 2000, Nigel lined out in attack for his beloved Moate All Whites for many years before taking his first steps into management in recent years.

He managed Naomh Ciarán to the Offaly senior ladies football crown this year, having been assistant to current St Malachy’s manager Tom Browne last year when the Ferbane-based club contested the Leinster final against Kilmacud Crokes. Adamson has also previously been a selector with Moate when John Twaddle was manager.

Kilbeggan Shamrocks described Adamson as a "young and ambitious manager" and the club wished him every success in 2025. His backroom team will be finalised in due course.

Adamson succeeds Niall O’Brien as Kilbeggan manager after O'Brien joined the Westmeath senior football backroom team. Having won the Westmeath junior football title in 2023, Kilbeggan comfortably preserved their intermediate status during the 2024 campaign.

Meanwhile, Tang GAA recently announced the appointment of Stephen Coy as manager of the club's senior football team for 2025.

Stephen is a native of Killoe, Co. Longford, with Tang GAA stating that he comes to the club with "great experience in coaching and management in both his native Longford and Roscommon". The club has wished Stephen and his management team all of the best for the season ahead.

Adrian Coughlan and Colm Donoghue were joint team managers of Tang in the 2024 senior championship, following the departure of former Leitrim star Seamus Quinn during the league campaign which ended in relegation to Division 2.
