Freezing fog warning issued by Met Éireann for Midlands counties

A weather warning for fog and freezing fog has been issued by Met Éireann for much of the country tonight, including the Midlands counties of Roscommon, Westmeath, Longford and Offaly.

With temperatures remaining in the low single digits this afternoon, the forecasting service said the yellow-level fog warning would take effect at 4pm and would remain in place until 6am tomorrow (Wednesday).

Motorists are advised to take particular care, with patches of fog and freezing fog thickening over the course of this evening and tonight.

Temperatures overnight will drop to minus three in certain parts of the country.
