Murray on the mark in Dundalk

Rathowen’s Adrian Murray was among the winners at Dundalk on Wednesday last where the two-year-old Queens Fury landed the seven-furlong maiden.

With champion jockey Colin Keane in the saddle, the 13/8 favourite led early in the straight and pulled clear to win by two and a quarter-lengths from his own stable companion Ardagh Red, a 22/1 shot. It was Keane’s third winner for Murray.

Next into the winners’ enclosure was the Ciaran Murphy-trained Finsecal Annie which landed the opening division of the handicap over the same distance. Ridden by Declan McDonogh, the Legends Galore Syndicate-owned 4/1 shot battled well to deny Ado McGuinness’ 9/1 chance Nikki Swango by a head.

Murray was on the mark at Dundalk again on Friday evening. While his What’s Your Game finished as a runner-up to Dermot Weld’s Purview in the eight-furlong two-year-old maiden, Murray won the opening division of the two-year-old fillies’ maiden over the same distance with the 5/4 favourite Carolina Jetstream.

Ridden by Billy Lee, she led early in the straight and held the Joseph O’Brien-trained 2/1 chance Dancing Teapot by three-parts of a length in the colours of Amo Racing and Giselle De Aguiar. Gowran trainer Dick Donohoe supplied Collinstown’s Nicola Burns with her third career success as 16/1 shot Autocrat won the 10-furlong apprentice handicap. The four-year-old was bought out of a claiming race at the track just five weeks’ previously and he came through to lead inside the final furlong to win by a neck from the Chris Timmons-trained Hurricane Allen, another 16/1 chance.
