Science Week at Baylin NS

Baylin NS pupils enjoyed a week full of discovery during Science Week 2024. The week saw the children take part in many STEM challenges. Pupils from across all class levels worked together to complete a maths trail around the school grounds, while they put their minds together for a whole school quiz compered by parent Eleanor Kilroy.

Children from senior classes buddied up with the junior classes to introduce them to the world of coding, problem solving together to create robot games. As well as these whole school activities, the children participated in many other science activities in their own classrooms, facilitated by their teachers.

The week was wrapped up with an excellent Science Fair, prepared and delivered by the children in 5th and 6th class, under the guidance of their teachers Ms. Farrell and Mrs. Moriarty. The two class groups presented interactive science activities and valuable learning opportunities to the whole school community. Over the course of the two days, the whole school visited the fair, as well as parents, who got a glimpse into the wonderful work that is happening in STEM education in the school daily.

The famous scientist Sir Isaac Newton once said, 'What we know is a drop, what we don't know is an ocean'. The Science Week certainly ignited a spark in the budding Baylin scientists to discover even more about our world.
