Woodie’s Athlone marks 10 years of children's charity fundraising
Woodie’s Athlone raised €4,194 with help from customers, colleagues, and suppliers in the latest Woodie’s Heroes campaign.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of Woodie’s Heroes.
The 10-year milestone was marked by Woodie’s CEO Damien Dwyer announcing that this year’s campaign raised €563,134 nationwide. That takes the total raised by Woodie’s Heroes over the decade to €4,100,786.
Woodie’s staff nominated their chosen children’s charities to benefit from the fundraiser, and 100 per cent of all funds raised are divided equally among them.
This year’s charities were Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland, Children’s Health Foundation, Childline by ISPCC, and Down Syndrome Ireland.
Damien Dwyer says: “As we celebrate 10 years of Woodie’s Heroes, I’m overwhelmed by what we’ve accomplished together in Westmeath and nationwide. This initiative started in response to colleagues who genuinely wanted to help the communities we serve, and it has become such an important part of who we are at Woodie’s, bringing pride and camaraderie to our 35 stores.
“Our colleagues are the heart of Woodie’s Heroes. They choose the children’s charities we support, lead the efforts in-store, and bring incredible energy to everything we do. It’s organic, it’s genuine, and it creates a buzz across our stores and support office.
“Raising €4.1 million in 10 years is an amazing achievement, and I couldn’t be prouder. Meeting the families and children supported by our charities and seeing first-hand the impact, from speech therapy to assistance dogs, shows the true difference we’re making together.
“Woodie’s Heroes is part of what makes us who we are, and it strengthens our bond with the communities around us. We look forward to continuing this journey in the years ahead.”
