Record November temperatures recorded at Westmeath and Roscommon weather stations
Met Éireann said provisional data showed that its weather stations in Westmeath, Roscommon and nine other parts of their country recorded their highest-ever November temperatures yesterday (Wednesday).
The remarkably mild and settled conditions saw the temperature climb to 18.8 degrees Celsius at the Mount Dillon, Roscommon, weather station yesterday.
This was two degrees above the previous highest November temperature at this station, which was recorded on November 11, 2022.
Met Éireann's station in Mullingar, meanwhile, recorded a temperature of 17.7 degrees yesterday, which was slightly above the previous peak at the 74-year-old station, of 17.3 degrees Celsius, on November 12, 1990.
In addition to the Mount Dillon and Mullingar stations, new November temperature records were set yesterday at weather stations in Mace Head, Galway; Casement Aerodrome, Dublin; Markree, Sligo; Finner, Donegal; Athenry, Galway; Gurteen, Tipperary; and Claremorris, Belmullet and Knock airport in Mayo.
The highest temperature recorded across the 25 Met Éireann stations in Ireland yesterday was 19.2 degrees Celsius at the Phoenix Park in Dublin.
This was still below the all-time record for a November temperature in Ireland, which is the 20.1 degrees Celsius, recorded at Dooks, in county Kerry, on November 1, 2015.
The month of October was a mild and dry one overall, and temperatures have edged even higher since the beginning of November, with the mild weather looking set to continue over the coming days.
