Garrycastle are back in senior ranks after final win

Garrycastle 0-13 Milltown 0-7

Garrycastle are back in the senior ranks of Westmeath football after a six-point victory over Milltown today in the Westmeath Intermediate Football Championship final replay in Homestead Lakepoint Park in Mullingar.

The game was switched from TEG Cusack Park on Sunday after the senior hurling final was called off thirteen minutes in, due to the deteriorating pitch conditions.

Having been inseparable in the original final last weekend, it was no surprise that the sides were again level at the break today, at 0-5 apiece.

However, Garrycastle took control from then on and eased to a six-point victory to ensure their stay in the intermediate ranks was of the minimum duration.
