Athlone native recognised for customer service at Iarnród Éireann awards

An Athlone native who is based in Offaly with Irish Rail was among those honoured at the second annual Iarnród Éireann Customer Experience awards held in Dublin's Aviva Stadium earlier this month.

The awards event is designed to recognise excellence in customer experience in all aspects of service provided to rail customers. Workers were nominated by their peers and this year's event also featured a People’s Choice Award, where nominations came from customers.

JP Moloney, who is from Athlone and works in Tullamore railway station, was a finalist in the 'In Station' award category.

JP’s nominator said he was "a great asset" to Tullamore.

"He always puts everyone ahead of himself and looks for the best interests of customers with his excellent customer service. He is always kind and always has as smile. After recently moving from another station, their loss is most definitely our gain!"

Speaking at the awards event, Iarnród Éireann's CEO Jim Meade said: "One of Iarnród Éireann’s core values is, 'Customers at the heart of our business'.

"All nominees and winners here today truly espouse that value and you should be very proud of the excellent way you serve our customers."

As we reported previously, Aidan Fallon of Athlone railway station took home one of the top accolades at the event, winning the overall award nationally in the Customer Experience category for Irish Rail station staff.
