Jean Farrell to launch second book of articles

Jean Farrell is launching her new book on Thursday, October 24.

Jean has been writing a weekly column in the Westmeath Independent for over ten years now. She published a book containing some of her articles in 2018.

‘Jean’s Journal 2’ contains a mixture of more interesting articles, from the paper. There are also lots of lovely photographs, from past decades, in her new book. These will evoke many memories for readers.

Her weekly articles tell of life from the 1950s to the present day. They tell of life as a child, teenager, teacher, mother and grandmother.

Her aim, each week, is to provide a bit of wit and wisdom, never to depress with gloom and doom.

Born and reared on the Connacht side of Athlone town, Jean is one of ten children born to Michael and Angela Coyle.

Jean has been writing for many years. Articles and short stories of hers have been published in various magazines and newspapers in Ireland and in the US.

Her play ‘The Six Marys’ has been performed all over Ireland, as well as in London.

You are all invited to the launch of ‘Jean’s Journal 2’ in The Athlone Bookshop, Lloyds Lane, off Church Street, part of The Village@Burgess. This will take place at 7pm on Thursday, October 24 and you are all very welcome to attend.
