Hilarious new Irish comedy comes to the Dean Crowe Theatre

It’s a brand new Irish comedy and it’s taking Ireland by storm!

'Matches and Old Flames' is the latest work by playwright and broadcaster Tommy Marren and it comes to the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone on Friday, October 25, and Saturday, October 26, for two unforgettable nights of non-stop laugher.

Following on from his previous hit comedies ‘It’s the Real McCoy’, ‘Nobody’s Talking To Me’ and ‘Three Hail Mary’s’ Tommy Marren promises 300 laughs in two hours in this fast-moving comedy with plots and sub-plots aplenty!

The play is set over two days in the home of Matt and Maureen Corcoran. They live with their two ‘mature’ bachelor sons Pat and Joe and Maureen decides it’s time they both moved out! She spots an advertisement in the Ireland’s Own where two equally ‘mature’ ladies are in search of husbands and so she puts in place her plan to find love for her sons.

What Maureen doesn’t know is that neither Pat nor Joe has any intentions of settling down or moving out and the boys hatch their own plan to put the two ladies ‘off the scent’.

Get ready for wall-to-wall comedy with rare diseases, tongue twisters, a missing wife, an overdue eternity ring, a ‘dodgy’ sponge cake and news of an old flame all adding to the mayhem and madness – not to mention the ‘sting in the tail’ at the very end!

The reaction to the play has been phenomenal with audiences intrigued by the storyline and captivated to find out how it all ends.

The question is will Matches be struck or could someone get burned by an Old Flame?

See the hilarious ‘Matches and Old Flames’ by Tommy Marren at the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone on Friday, October 25, and Saturday, October 26, at 8pm nightly.
