Athlone Credit Union award €1,500 bursary to Athlone TUS student

The Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union have announced Killian Redmond as the recipient of the 2024 Student Bursary.

Killian, a dedicated BA (Hons) Accounting student at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), Athlone Campus, will receive €1,500 over the course of three years, with €500 awarded annually to support his academic journey.

The Athlone native is a former student of the Marist College in Athlone, and his exceptional academic performance during the highly competitive selection process earned him the prestigious bursary.

Speaking about the bursary, Deputy CEO of Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union, Marise O’Toole said: "We are incredibly proud to support local students like Killian as they pursue higher education.

"The Credit Union is committed to investing in students and assisting them with their education journey, and this bursary is an example of how we can make a meaningful difference in their lives. Killian’s dedication and academic achievements truly embody the spirit of this program, and we wish him every success in his studies and future career."

The Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union Student Bursary is a demonstration of the Credit Union’s ongoing commitment to fostering education and supporting young people in the local community.

Now in its second year, the Student Bursary Program is closely linked to the TUS Athlone Campus, specifically the Business Faculty.

The bursary is awarded to the applicant who achieves the highest points and is attending a course in the Business Faculty at TUS – Athlone Campus.
