Shaws first Athlone store to open tomorrow morning

Shaws Department Store's new Athlone location is set to open its doors tomorrow morning Thursday, October 10 at 10.30am.

The store will fill the Golden Island Shopping Centre unit that was previously occupied by Argos.

The 9,000 sq ft unit will be the 16th Shaws store around the country and according to the CEO of the company, Conrad Digan, it will have “a strong fashion focus” and will showcase the best of Shaws women's wear, beauty, lingerie, children's wear and seasonal gifting.

Shaws are offering a special offer of 25% off select products on the day of the new store opening.

In welcoming the arrival of Shaws to Athlone, Mayor Frankie Keena, said it was “a fantastic news story” and “a strong vote of confidence” in the local retail landscape.

“Athlone is one of the strongest towns in the Midlands region and a major retail hub for people from a very wide catchment area,” he said. “Shaws offers lots of choice and value and will be a great addition to what the town has to offer.”
