Athlone to host event for families that lost a baby

Athlone Family Resource Centre (FRC) will be hosting their annual Féileacáin Wave of Light event next Tuesday, October 15, at the pedestrian bridge at 7 pm.

All families and individuals affected by miscarriage, stillbirth and neo-natal death are invited to participate in the in-person event.

This is part of Baby Loss Awarness Week, which runs from October 8 to 15, with buildings or landmarks lighting up across Ireland on October 15 in shades of blue and pink as part of the Féileacáin Wave of Light.

Féileacáin is a charity that provides support to those affected by the death of a baby during or after pregnancy.

In Athlone, participants will gather on the pedestrian bridge next Tuesday from 7pm to 8pm with memorial candles to honour all their children whose short lives left such an impact on their world.

Music for the evening will be hosted by Áine O'Regan.

This is the second year that the event will take place in Athlone, with all other FRCs in the Midlands hosting similar events this year.

For anyone who has been affected by miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death and would like to receive a Baby Loss Memorial candle prior to this event, please contact the Athlone FRC through their Facebook page or their website, www.afrc.ie.
