Fundraising quiz night in support of Community Radio station in Athlone

Athlone Community Radio (ACR) is thrilled to announce its first fundraising event in a series aimed at supporting its community-focused programming, with a Sports Table Quiz on Thursday, October 10, at The Bounty, with Quizmaster Mick Silke leading the fun.

Athlone Community Radio, a not-for-profit organisation, plays a vital role in engaging all members of the community, offering a welcoming space where individuals of all abilities are encouraged and trained in the art of radio broadcasting.

Funds raised during this event will go towards creating more opportunities for community involvement, improving station facilities, and enhancing broadcast quality.

Robbie Mulvey, ACR’s popular sports presenter, who actively follows the progress of local teams, has collaborated with Mick Silke to prepare an exciting array of questions.

Expect a mix of local, national, and international sports trivia, making it the perfect evening to test your knowledge. Teams are encouraged to wear their club colours to the event and embrace a night of friendly competition.

Tables are filling up fast as local clubs sign up, so don't miss your chance to compete and show off your sports knowledge! With prizes for the top team and spot prizes throughout the evening, everyone has a chance to win.

In addition to this exciting event, ACR is proud to announce the recent renewal of its broadcasting licence for another 10 years by Coimisiún na Meán (CnaM).

This achievement is a testament to the dedication of its staff and volunteers, who ensure that the station continues to serve Athlone’s diverse community.

All are invited to come along for a fun-filled evening, support a great cause, and help ensure that Athlone Community Radio continues to thrive.
