Culture Night Extravaganza in Moore

A huge night laden in culture will be celebrated in Moore Community Hall this Friday (September 20) to mark Culture Night 2024, and everyone is invited to take part.

Many different artists and exhibitors are set to travel to Moore for the event, including Mote Park Artists and ‘The Beauty of the World’ art exhibition. Local artists Clare Daly Madden, Alan Scott, Edel Chadwick, and Maria Craven will also showcase their art work.

There will be a multicultural input from Cornafulla writer/poet, Amy Abdullah Barry and friends through poetry, music, and story-telling. Poets include Tadgh Carey and Eugene McGivern, with story telling by Latvian, Mia Samovick. The talented tenor will be performed by Anthony Merrigan. French harpist Elizabeth Affolter will accompany Amy Abdullah Barry's readings, while Malaysian Raja Hawathul will perform a popular Malaysian song on keyboard.

Moore Youth Drama will showcase their dramatic talent and one of their mentors Tom Costello will share a personal recitation that everyone will relate to! Padraig Pearses Junior and Senior Trad groups will join the gathering along with the Sarah Clogher School of Dancing.

Doors open at 6pm for the Art exhibition. Poetry/Music/Drama will begin at 6.30pm. Entry is free and includes refreshments.

Moore Community Council is delighted to be working in conjunction with Roscommon Culture Night and Roscommon County Council to deliver a great night of entertainment.
