Moate gastro pub reopening tomorrow under new ownership

A Moate gastro pub which closed earlier in the summer is reopening this week under new ownership.

The Cellar Bistro at The Gap House in Moate will be trading from tomorrow (Thursday). It will be located in the restaurant section of The Gap House, which was previously home to Moran's Gastro Pub.

The Cellar Bistro currently operates a sister restaurant at Strand Street, Athlone, previously known as Hatter's Lane. It's owned by Peter Scully and Alan Conroy, who also own Gertie Browne's Bar & Bistro in Athlone, and Peadar's Bar, Moate.

Preparations have been underway in recent weeks for the opening of the Moate eatery, which has been fitted out with "vintage chic" decor. The business is reporting strong demand for bookings over its opening weekend.

The Cellar Bistro at The Gap House will be offering an array of meat, fish and pasta dishes as well as some vegetarian and vegan options.

It will be open on Thursdays and Fridays (4-9pm), on Saturdays (3-9.30pm) and on Sundays from 12-9pm.

An 'Early Bird' three-course menu, for €30, will be served until 6.30pm, Thursdays to Saturdays, and all day on Sundays. For bookings, contact 085 7651858.
