ECO-UNESCO exhibit in Athlone

ECO-UNESCO, Ireland’s leading environmental education and youth organisation, is hosting a special Poster Panel Exhibit in Athlone this month to mark the 25th anniversary of the Young Environmentalist Awards (YEA).

The exhibit is in place in the Atrium at Athlone Civic Offices until Friday, July 19.

Since its inception in 1999, YEA has recognised and rewarded the efforts of young people aged 10-18 across Ireland who take action to protect and conserve the environment. Over the past 25 years, the programme has involved 65,000 young environmentalists, making a significant impact on environmental awareness and sustainability practices among Ireland's youth.

Elaine Nevin, National Director of ECO-UNESCO, commented on this significant milestone:

"We are incredibly proud of the achievements of the Young Environmentalist Awards over the past 25 years. This exhibit highlights how the programme has developed over the years, as well as the dedication and creativity of our young participants. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating these inspiring young environmentalists and to learn more about our journey and the impactful work being done by ECO-UNESCO."

The exhibit will provide visitors with an insightful look into the history and impact of the YEA, featuring highlights from past projects and success stories. Members of the public are warmly invited to attend and explore.
