Swansea’s rich vein of form boosts Sheehan’s prospects
The chances of Alan Sheehan filling the Swansea City manager's role on a permanent basis have been enhanced following the Championship team's fifth successive win on Monday last.
The Coosan native was appointed as caretaker boss of the Welsh club in February and has since presided over seven wins and just two defeats from his 11 matches in charge, claiming an impressive 23 points in that time.
A fifth consecutive clean sheet was close to being achieved in the win over QPR on Monday but for the concession of a late goal to the West London club.
With two games remaining in the Championship season, Swansea are now in 11th position on the league table, six points outside the play-off places. While mathematically still possible for Sheehan's charges to reach one of the sought after four play-off places, Swansea would need a number of results to go in their favour to achieve such a feat.
Swansea's next game is away to Millway this Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
Confirmed in the caretaker manager role until the conclusion of the Championship season, Sheehan has had a long and successful career in English football with several clubs, having previously worked in the backroom team of former Southampton manager Nathan Jones when the Saints were in the English Premier League.
