Roscommon hospital imposing visitor restrictions due to Covid-19 outbreak

Visiting restrictions have been introduced at Roscommon University Hospital, due to a Covid-19 outbreak.

In a statement issued this evening (Wednesday), the HSE advised that, due to an outbreak of the virus, access for visitors to the hospital is currently being limited to normal visiting times only.

Hospital visiting times will continue between 2pm to 4pm, and 6.30pm and 8.30pm. However, a limit of two visitors per patient is being imposed.

"Visiting outside of the normal visiting hours can be arranged on compassionate grounds by contacting the relevant ward," said the HSE.

"With the Easter weekend approaching, visitors are requested to comply with the visiting arrangements and co-operate with hospital staff who are ensuring the arrangements are adhered to.

"Given the need to control the spread of infection, the hospital is appealing to the public not to visit the hospital if they have any symptoms of Covid, flu or any viral illness.

"Masks will be available for all visitors at the entrance of the hospital and visitors are asked to practice good hand hygiene and to use the available hand gel regularly."

Roscommon University Hospital said it would like to thank members of the public for their cooperation at this time.
