Burgess director's new photo exhibition to be unveiled in Athlone on Friday
A new exhibition of black and white photography by Alastair Gray, director of Athlone's Burgess Department Store, will go on display this Friday evening (April 11).
The Awakenings exhibition is being displayed in Athlone Art Gallery, located in The Village at Burgess, with Friday's launch taking place at 6pm.
Awakenings is a sample of photographs taken as Alastair enters his 7th decade. Taking photographs awakens him to what is around him.
"I am looking at landscape and the shapes we humans create on it. I gain a lot of enjoyment taking the photographs and am in constant search of the killer image!" he said.
On a couple of occasions each year he spends time in London on business, and enjoys visiting galleries in his spare time there.
"I am constantly drawn to how we behave around art," he said. "I currently work in black and white because at present that is what works for me."
All are welcome to attend the launch of Awakenings in Athlone Art Gallery at 6pm on Friday.
