Athlone event empowers women to get involved in local politics

Roscommon County Council in association with SHE - See Her Elected hosted another informative seminar in Athlone Springs Hotel last night.

The theme of the event was 'Supporting women and diversity through engagement with Local Government'.

The event was designed to support and encourage female participation in all areas of local government and the contributions of persons from diverse backgrounds.

Discussed on the night was the importance and role of local government and how it supports, empowers and delivers for communities.

A presentation was given by Michelle Maher from SHE - See Her Elelcted, and Cllr Valerie Duffy also said a few words about her experience as a Councillor on the night.
