Funeral to take place of Athlone native who died in Cork road accident

The funeral is to take place tomorrow of a local woman who died in a road traffic accident in Cork last weekend.

Marie (Mary) Coughlan, a native of the Kilgarvan area, near Athlone, was one of two people who lost their lives in a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the N72, Navigation Road, Mallow, on Sunday.

The late Marie Coughlan, King Square, Mitchelstown, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, died at the scene.

The other driver,  Susan O’Sullivan from Beechwood Park in Mallow, was also pronounced deceased at the scene. Two children, who were passengers in her car, were brought to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The late Ms Coughlan is reposing at Flynn's Funeral Home in Moate this evening, Thursday, from 5pm to 6.20pm.

Removal at 6.20pm to St Colmcille's Church, Ballinahown arriving 7pm for Funeral Prayers. Funeral Mass on Friday at 11am. Burial afterwards in Clonmacnoise Cemetery.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Pat and Marie and is sadly missed by her sister Helen (Dunboyne), brother Pat (Kilgarvan), brother in law Eugene, sister in law Rosie, adored nieces and nephews, Eleanor, Louise, Rachel, Brian and Justin, her beloved aunt Kathleen, cousins, many friends, neighbours and former AIB colleagues.
