Moate's Jimi Gillivan presents €47k donation to Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association

Moate's James 'Jimi' Gillivan has presented a donation totalling €47,7701 to the Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA).

It comes after he completed four marathons in four days in October of last year as part of the Run4MND fundraiser in memory of his late father Andy ‘The Doll’ Gillivan.

In a statement on the Run4MND social media pages, Jimi said: “Last weekend marked a year since Andy’s passing. Andy absolutely loved helping out at charity events down through the years.

The Gillivan family present the donation to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

"From the 'Sale of work' in the Carmelite to the 'Fun and frolics' in the convent, he revelled in spinning a wheel, selling tickets or having an audience in stitches.

"The RUN4MND fundraiser ran in his memory allowed him to keep giving back. Thank you so much to everyone who donated, ran, cycled, shared a post, came out on the route or helped out in anyway, it was an memorable few days.

"A special mention to Niall Mackey who ran the social media campaign and kept everyone up to date each step of the way."

The IMNDA is dedicated to providing care and support to the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Community.
