Prominent Moate business bids a final farewell to local community

Prominent family run butchers, Shane Maher Ltd, closed its doors for the final time in Moate on Saturday evening (March 29).

Located at Peter Gillivan & Son on the town's Upper Main Street, Shane confirmed at the start of March that the business would permanently close citing a number of reasons for the decision.

The five time Midlands 'Butcher of the Year' award winner expressed his appreciation for all the support received since the decision was taken noting that the day to day interaction with his customers will be "sorely missed".

A final Facebook post thanked the people of Moate and surrounding areas who have been more than customer but friends.
