Moydrum's McGann the hat-trick hero in Ireland's Six Nations defeat of Italy
A three try scoring contribution from Moydrum native Anna McGann proved pivotal as Ireland defeated Italy 54-12 in Parma to claim a resounding away win in the Guinness Women’s Six Nations on Sunday.
The winger scored a brace of tries in the opening half and completed her hat-trick in injury time of the contest which saw Ireland win their first away Six Nations fixture since 2021.
Speaking to IrishRugby TV post game Anna commended the resilience shown by the team following defeat by France in their opening Six Nations encounter.
"We showed great resilience throughout the contest and it was great to rewrite the past here in Parma.
"This is a new era for us and as a team we spoke about correcting the errors from the France game and I believe we did so.
"Our execution was a lot better this week but there are areas of our game to work on ahead of the next game too," Anna said
Reflecting on her hat-trick Anna lauded the contribution of her team-mates to her three pivotal scores and spoke positively ahead of the team's next outing against England.
"We are heading into a down week now and have to rest and recover for a massive game against England in Virgin Media Cork where we will have a really good crowd behind us. We are heading in the right direction," Anna added.
