Local Minister of State, Kevin 'Boxer' Moran has welcomed funding for national roads in the constituency counties of Westmeath and Longford

Substantial allocation of funding for national roads in County Westmeath

A substantial funding allocation for national roads in County Westmeath has been welcomed by local Minister of State, Kevin 'Boxer' Moran.

Westmeath County Council has received an allocation of €7,901,634, of which €4,858,000 will go towards capital investment, protection and renewal of roads.

Of the total figure allocated €2,500,000 is afforded to the construction of new roads in the county, while the remaining €543,634 will be used for the maintenance of roads.

Meanwhile, Longford County Council received an allocation of €2,959,951 for national roads in the county.

Minister Moran said that the allocations would allow the local authorities make substantial improvements to roads within their respective counties.

"The funding allocated will enhance the user experience for all commuters and improve safety for all.

"These investments reflect the Government's ongoing commitment to enhancing road infrastructure in both constituency counties, aiming to improve safety, connectivity and economic development in the region.

"I will continue to seek additional funding for much needed projects in both constituency counties," the Minister concluded.
