Bower girls senior volleyball success

Our Lady’s Bower sends its congratulations to the school's senior volleyball team, who are through to the All-Ireland Schools Cup Semi Finals after three impressive wins over Portlaoise College, St Mary’s College Naas and St Peter's College, Cork.

On Wednesday, March 12, the Senior volleyball team travelled to Portlaoise to play their All-Ireland quarter final. Three matches were to be played on the day, with one team from the pool of four qualifying for the semi-finals.

First up was Portlaoise College. Despite some stiff competition from a strong Portlaoise side, Our Lady’s Bower managed to win the match 2-0. Their winning streak continued as the Bower went on to play St Mary’s College Naas, once again winning their match in straight sets.

The final match of the day was against St Peter’s College Cork. Despite the exhaustion starting to kick in, the Bower girls powered through with a series of strong serves and spikes to take a 2-0 victory over the Cork side.

With three straight-sets wins under their belt, Our Lady’s Bower will now progress to the Schools Cup semi-finals.

This officially places Our Lady’s Bower among the top four school volleyball teams in the country, across all divisions.

This is a huge achievement for the school, in just their 3rd year of offering volleyball as an extracurricular activity, and is a testament to the school’s hardworking an dedicated volleyball players, who train multiple evenings a week in the school gym in preparation for their high-level competition. The girls are looking forward to their semi final in the coming weeks.
