57th Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna to get underway
Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna will run for its 57th year in the Dean Crowe Theatre from Monday, March 31 to Wednesday, April 2.
There are two nightly performances commencing at 7pm on Monday and Tuesday and two matinées on Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 10am.
This children's festival of music, song, drama and dance is non-competitive, with primary school children from schools in Athlone and across the midlands invited to take part. The aim of the Féile is to promote Irish music, song and dance, while embracing the many other cultures and traditions that are now an integral part of our schools. The Féile Ceoil enables schools and families to share in and enjoy the performances of their own schools as well as other school groups, free from the stress of competition.
Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna is organised by a voluntary committee of teachers, retired teachers and a former education inspector. The children are prepared in school by their teachers, music teachers and special needs assistants. Parents play an active role in preparing and supporting their children for the performances.
So, come along to the Féile Ceoil and enjoy the great variety of musical entertainment.
Beidh craic agus ceoil ann, tá fáilte roimh cách!
