Céilí workshop takes place during Seachtain na Gaeilge in Athlone
Athlone Pop Up Gaeltacht, in conjunction with Garrycastle GAA Club, hosted a hugely successful Céilí workshop on Wednesday, March 13, as part of the national Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations. The event was very well attended, with a fantastic turnout from the local community.
It was fantastic to be joined by the Garrycastle Ladies Social Group, whose enthusiasm and energy added to the wonderful atmosphere of the evening. Under the expert guidance of local Céilí legend Tom Shine, participants of all skill levels enjoyed a night of music, dance, and laughter. Tom’s unparalleled knowledge of céilí music and his wicked sense of humour ensured an evening filled with craic agus spraoi.
A huge thank you to Garrycastle GAA Club for facilitating the workshop and providing a welcoming space for this celebration of Irish culture. The support of the club was instrumental in making the event such a great success.
Light refreshments were enjoyed by all, and the event truly encapsulated the spirit of Seachtain na Gaeilge, promoting a love for the Irish language and celebrating traditions in a fun and inclusive setting.
Local Pop Up Gaeltacht Member Mickey Moran said: “Go raibh maith agaibh to everyone who attended and contributed to making this a memorable evening. An Teanga is clearly having a moment, both on the national and international scene, so if you would like to get involved in the Irish language locally, keep a close eye on “Athlone Pop Up Gaeltacht” instagram and facebook, for the weekly ciorcal comhrá as well as regular events.
