'Blood Moon' to be visible over Midlands tomorrow morning
A 'blood moon' lunar eclipse is set to be visible over the Midlands in the early hours of tomorrow morning, Thursday, March 14.
It will be almost four years before the spectacular lunar event will happen again.
An estimated timeline for the event was given by Seanie Morris, PRO of Midlands Astronomy Club.
At 3:57am the moon will enter penumbra, or partial shadow, of Earth.
By 5:09am, the moon will enter umbra, or full shadow, of Earth and will appear to darken.
At 6:26am, the moon will be fully in Earth's umbra, or shadow, and will take on a blood-red colour.
Finally at 6:53am, the Moon will fall below the horizon, still in total eclipse. Dawn twilight will also make it very difficult by this time to see the Moon.
