Athlone Pop Up Gaeltacht, in conjunction with Garrycastle GAA Club, will host a fantastic family friendly céilí to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge.
This exciting evening of traditional Irish music, dance, and community spirit will take place on Wednesday, March 12, at 8pm, in the Garrycastle clubhouse. The event is free of charge and all are welcome to attend!
Seachtain na Gaeilge is a national festival that promotes and celebrates the Irish language and culture. It takes place annually in the lead up to St. Patrick’s Day, offering people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to engage with the language through fun and inclusive events. Since its inception over five years ago, Athlone Pop Up Gaeltacht has been proud to take part in this celebration, fostering a love for the Irish language and traditions in the local community.
This year’s event will feature a céilí workshop led by local céilí legend Tom Shine, who will serve as the Fear Tí. Renowned for his unparalleled knowledge of céilí music and his wicked sense of humour, Tom will ensure an evening filled with craic agus spraoi. Whether you are a seasoned dancer or a complete beginner, this workshop promises to be an entertaining and engaging experience for all.
Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Irish language and culture in an inclusive, welcoming, and fun environment. Light refreshments will be available on the night.
