Westmeath indie rockers The Academic postpone UK and Europe tour

Westmeath indie rock band The Academic have postponed their forthcoming UK and Europe tour.

In a statement posted to their Instagram page, the band said while they were 'incredibly excited to hit the road', they have made the decision to fully concentrate on creating new music for their next album.

"We want to give you something truly special - both from the studio and when we are finally back on stage. When we do return it will be worth the wait," the band members said.

New dates for the UK and Europe tour will be confirmed in due course and fans are advised to hold onto their tickets as they will remain valid for the rescheduled concerts.

The tour was scheduled to start in Cardiff on March 27 with a final date in Lisbon on May 14.
