'Boxer' welcomes €186,000 funding for Athlone's St. Mary’s Hall

Minister of State and TD for Longford/Westmeath, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran has warmly welcomed this morning’s announcement of €186,000 funding for St. Mary’s Hall in Athlone under the Community Recognition Fund.

“This is very welcome news for St. Mary’s Hall and the many people and organisations who use the facility on a regular basis,” said Minister Moran.

“This funding is for part two refurbishment costs and comes after the Hall received some €250,000 in 2023,” said Minister Moran.

“I also note that Clonbrusk MUGA and Brawney MUGA have also received significant funding boosts,” said Minister Moran.

Other local groups shared in a total of €1,241,024 in funding, including:

St. Mary’s Community Hall, phase two - €186,000;

Brawney MUGA improvements - €50,000;

Clonbrusk MUGA improvements - €50,000;

Mullingar Swimming Pool, for refurbishment and essential repairs - €100,000;

Coole - upgrades to existing playground - €100,000;

Dalton Park MUGA pitch resurfacing works - €80,000;

Maria Edgeworth Visitor Centre, Longford, for upgrade of heating system and display equipment - €50,000;

Carrigallen Tidy Towns Committee - €85,000;

MacEoin Park Recreational Area upgrade works - €182,097;

St. Mary’s GAA/LGFA club – €179,767;

Michael Neary Park Management Committee, Park refurbishment works, €50,000;

Longford Slashers GAA/LGFA Club, club resurfacing works, €50,000;

Foroige Attic House, €78,160.
