Gardai: 'No report' of female being assaulted on Athlone road

Gardai in Athlone say they have received no report or allegation regarding a female being assaulted or approached on the Ballymahon Road in Athlone over the weekend.

Social media has been rife with unverified claims over such an incident.

However, Gardai have told the Westmeath Independent they are currently not aware of any such occurrence.
