South Roscommon trio to host Women's Day wellness event in Hodson Bay Hotel
Three women in South Roscommon are joining forces to host 'Mind, Body, Life', a wellness morning for women that will take place on International Women's Day next month.
The event is happening in Athlone's Hodson Bay Hotel from 9.30am to 1.30pm on Saturday, March 8.
It's being organised by local mindfulness teacher Helen Dowling, women's health physiotherapist Maria Weaver, and life and business coach Laura Casey.
Laura, the former principal of Dean Kelly NS in Athlone, started her own life coaching business last year and explained that the upcoming event is desgned for women aged from 18 to 80!
"We hope the event will really empower women and give them some time to focus on themselves and become stronger and happier in mind and body," she said.
"We want it to be relaxing, informative and impactful so that participants gain really valuable expertise and knowledge on the day."
The morning will begin with an interactive presentation on mindfulness from Helen Dowling, who will explain what mindfulness is, why it's needed, and how we can all benefit from practising it.
Attendees will be led in a guided meditation focusing on present moment awareness and self-compassion.
Helen began her professional career as a physiotherapist, specialising in women’s health and paediatrics, before becoming a mindfulness teacher who works in educational, workplace, and community settings. Originally from Waterford, she lives in the Lecarrow area with her husband and four sons.
Women's health physiotherapist and Knockcroghery resident Maria Weaver "strives to inspire women to live a life without limitations" and will speak about the importance of staying strong as we age.
Her fellow Knockcroghery resident Laura Casey, meanwhile, will deliver a hands-on workshop which will focus on "supporting women to discover who they are and what they want in their lives".
She will guide participants gently, allowing them time to consider a goal they would like to set. Follow-up action steps and visualisations will also be part of the workshop.
In addition, Laura will speak on the importance of knowing and understanding our values and how to combat negative thinking.
Tickets for the event can be booked on the on Eventbrite website under Mind, Body, Life; a wellness morning for women here.
The cost is €70, which includes a tea, coffee and scone reception, a light breakfast and a wellness goodie bag for each participant.
