Roscommon owl returned to the wild by Barn Owl Project
A volunteer-run wildlife conservation group dedicated to conserving wild barn owls in Ireland has shared details of an owl in Roscommon which it released back into the wild after nursing it to full health.
The Barn Owl Project, in a social media post this week, shared a photo of the striking bird.
It wrote: "Here is a little one from Co Roscommon we got in a few weeks back. Released back to the wild over the weekend.
"A big thanks to Susan for nursing it back to full health. Well done Maria Morris (finder) we were delighted to have her release it back to the area it came from over the weekend."
The Barn Owl Project is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) run on a voluntary basis.
