Bishop opens inaugural ASD class at Scoil na gCeithre Máistrí

A momentous educational occasion unfolded in Athlone's Scoil na gCeithre Máistrí last week, as school patron, the Bishop of Ardagh & Clonmacnois Paul Connell, formally opened the school's first Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) class “as gaeilge”.

This is a first for Athlone as children with autism are now in a position to be educated through Irish in a Gaelscoil.

Bishop Connell and Fr Pat Murphy, chairperson of the Board of Management met with parents, members of staff and the school community to officially open and bless the new state of the art class and adjoining playground.

The Bishop expressed gratitude towards all those who worked so tirelessly to ensure the room achieved fruition.

Information regarding the progressive work being done in the school is available to view at www.ceithremaistri.ie.
