Westmeath senior hurlers are under serious pressure in Division 1B of the National Hurling League after falling to a home defeat against Laois.

They sit bottom of the table with a tough away game against Offaly ahead on March 2.

Laois led by 4-11 to 1-12 with 20 minutes remaining, but Westmeath, for whom sub Niall O'Brien scored a second half goal, got six unanswered points to get back within two of the visitors. However, Laois, who led by 2-6 to 0-9 at the break, notched the final four scores of the match to take the spoils.
