Bohemians beat Shamrock Rovers at Aviva Stadium

Bohemians picked up the win and the bragging rights in the final game in the first round of fixtures of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season.

Ross Tierney's goal was enough to see them past Shamrock Rovers 1-0 at the Aviva Stadium.

Over 33,000 people attended the game in south Dublin today.

Bohemians were on top in the first-half, and they got their reward with the victory.

Goalscorer Tierney was also named man of the match.

Rovers enjoyed plenty of possession, but they were unable to convert it into good enough chances.

They will be hoping to bounce back by finishing the job against Norwegian outfit Molde on Thursday, after a famous Conference League win in their playoff tie last week.

For Alan Reynolds' Bohemians, this Dublin derby win was the perfect start to the season and they will be targeting a title challenge.
