Boxing tournament, tattoos and music on Athlone club's fundraising day this Sunday
Athlone Boxing Club is planning an all-day fundraiser this Sunday (February 16) in support of its plans to develop a new purpose-built gym in the Lissywollen area.
The club is hoping to construct a new gym between the Athlone Regional Sports Centre and the Athlone Town FC stadium, but significant fundraising will be required in order for the project to move forward.
As part of that process, a boxing tournament will be held in the Monsignor McCarthy Hall, Battery Heights, on Sunday from 11.30am. Children's activities are also planned such as face painting and art classes.
Inksane Tattoo Studio has arranged a fundraising flash tattoo day at its premises on Church Street, Athlone, in aid of the boxing club. Flash tattoos will range in price from €50 to €150, starting from 12 noon on Sunday.
The day will finish with a live music marathon in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, featuring local band Renegades of Funk, supported by a DJ and a number of other local acts. Doors will open at 6pm, and the music will get underway from 7pm.
The club said all support for the programme of events on Sunday will be greatly appreciated.
"Every donation makes a difference," it stated.
