Marie Donnellan, volunteer lifetime achievement award winner, receives a presentation from St Brigid’s GAA chairman Alan MacNeice.

Volunteer ethos to the fore at St Brigid's GAA club presentation

The volunteerism ethos was to the fore in the Hodson Bay Hotel this past weekend as St Brigid's GAA duly recognised members for their continued dedication to the club.

Marie Donnellan was the main recipient on the occasion, being acknowledged by the club with the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement award.

A worthy winner of the award, Marie is always a welcome presence in the club, working hard and with a smile on her face.

Outgoing committee members, Michael McDonnell (chairperson), Brian O'Ruairc (treasurer) and Aine Martin (secretary), were respectively recognised for their five year terms as club officers.

The player of the year awards for the club's adult teams were also announced during the lunch.

The winners were as follows.

Senior ladies team - Marian Nolan; junior ladies team - Sally O'Hara and Abby Higgins (joint winners); senior men's team - Conor Hand; intermediate men's team - Ciaran Quinn and junior men's team - Robbie Keenan.
