Credit Union in Athlone to close temporarily for work as part of merger
Athlone and Castlerea Credit Union is to close temporarily for computer systems work as part of its merger with the Tuam-based St Jarlath's Credit Union.
The credit union said its offices will be closed to the public from 1pm tomorrow, Friday, February 7, and will remain closed on Monday, February 10.
The offices will reopen on Tuesday next, February 11.
In addition, the credit union's online banking and mobile app will be unavailable from tomorrow (Friday) at 12 noon until Saturday at midnight.
Athlone and Castlerea Credit Union apologised for any inconvenience caused to its members.
Last month it was announced that the local institution had agreed a merger with St Jarlath's Credit Union in a move which will establish one of the largest credit unions in the country.
A new name will also be coming into effect for the new entity, which will no longer have Athlone in its title. Instead it will be called West Midlands Credit Union.
