Local motorist clocked at over 200 kilometres per hour
Gardai have revealed that they detected a motorist driving at in excess of 200kph in the region over the Bank Holiday weekend.
An Garda Síochána conducted an extensive roads policing 0peration throughout St. Brigid's Bank Holiday Weekend which began at 7am on Thursday, and concluded at 7am on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on the M6 near Ballinasloe where a motorist was detected driving at 206kph in a 120kph zone.
In excess of 2,200 drivers were detected for speeding offences during the five-day operation.
There were four fatalities as a result of traffic collisions over St. Brigid's Bank Holiday weekend. This brings the total number of fatalities on Irish roads this year to 15.
