Athlone go back to black and blue

Athlone Town will revert to their traditional blue and black colours for the 2025 season.

Athlone wore a black jersey with no blue last season and it was something that long-time fans of the club regularly criticised. And many supporters remarked that there was no explanation offered for the deviation from the club's usual colours.

Whatever about changes to jersey designs, moving away from traditional colours is generally not something that supporters will entertain, and it was no different with fans of the Town last season.

In a social media post this week, however, Athlone Town AFC said it was "delighted to announce the return of our iconic blue and black stripes" for the 2025 season.

Athlone Town added that the new home jersey will be available at the start of the season in the club shop.
